A Pleasant Surprise: Myrtle Beach State Park
A Pleasant Surprise: Myrtle Beach State Park

When I think of Myrtle Beach, my mind conjures thoughts of golfers, tourists, the boardwalk, high-rise condos and overly crowded beaches. And more recently, the Dixie Stampede, southern entertainment at its finest.
We are looking for a different type of energy, not necessarily the hustle and bustle of action rides, glittery shows and herds of people. The energy we seek is one from a powerful sunrise on the ocean, the majestic century-old oak trees or a crackling campfire - and we found it, right here in Myrtle Beach.

The State Park is 300 acres of camping bliss.
Tall, gorgeous trees; a long stretch of sandy beach with those high-rises way off in the distance; walking trails; practically private pitches in most areas; kept bathrooms and laundromats; and a fun and friendly staff.
The campground was practically full, because it is so popular, but we never felt over-crowded. All of the other campers were friendly and obviously enjoyed being there. The beach was simply amazing, and the sunrises, breath-taking.
Our stay was incredible and we plan to visit again soon.
